This advent calendar was the best of the best! And I enjoyed every last drop!
This year, I curated four different whiskey advent calendars to choose from. Each one was filled with either 12 or 24 delicious whiskies from all over the world. These whiskies ranged from everyday-sippers to high-end bottles and from finished ryes to peated single malt scotches. There was a little bit of everything in the advent calendars to help you find your new favorite whiskey! And for those of you who ordered one of the whiskey advent calendars, I hope you enjoyed yours as much as I enjoyed mine!
The advent calendar I chose for my countdown to Christmas was, of course, the 12 Days of Top-Shelf Whisk(e)y. This included 12 ultra-premium and rare Scotch, Bourbon, Rye and Irish whiskies with bottle costs ranging anywhere from $140-500. Seriously, they’re really top-shelf… that is, if you can find them. And I wanted to share my tasting notes with you! Even though I put together the advent calendars, I did my best to forget which whiskey was which so that I could taste through the whiskies blind. I was asked by Tasting Table to answer a number of whiskey related questions. They wanted to know all about warming up your palate before a whiskey tasting and how the best way to cleanse your palate during a tasting. They were even curious about pairing whiskey cocktails with fish dishes. I’ve included summaried of my answers along with links to the full articles.
