Robyn Smith, PhD
I earned my PhD in chemical engineering, more specifically studying the kinetics of heterogeneous catalytic reactions. For two years I was the research chemist at a high-tech distillery in Los Angeles leading the R&D. I created whiskeys, rums and brandies at both bench top and production size scales. My appreciation for whiskey started many years before that with my first purchase of Elijah Craig Barrel Proof. That was the moment where I knew I had leveled up from liking bourbon to loving whiskey. From there my fascination with the art and science of whiskey grew.
