DA Rum Tasting
I can’t get enough of these blind tastings with the DEUCE Athletics community! This time we’re leaving the UFC behind and putting the entire focus on a new category of spirits… instead of whiskey, we’ll be tasting rum!
I love rum! I find it’s a pretty misunderstood category because when I say rum, most consumers think of Captain Morgan or Bacardi or Kraken (ugh, that one made me shudder from the college flashbacks). But trust me, we won’t be tasting any of those! We’ll be tasting some really exceptional rums that I guarantee you’ll enjoy whether you’re completely new to rum or have been enjoying rum for years.
We’ll start off the evening with a delicious rum cocktail that you get to enjoy as we discuss the general styles of rum and the basics of rum production. I’m ready to answer any and all of your rum questions. Then we’ll taste through 4 different rums that I’ve specially selected for this tasting. Of course, you’ll be tasting them blind to remove any preconceived notions you may have about the various styles of rums. After we’ve tasted all 4 rums, I’ll reveal what we tasted, but not in which order… that’s up to your palate to decide!
My hope is that you’ll come away from this tasting a knowledgable and confident rum consumer that can easily navigate their way through the rum selection at a bar and the rum aisle of a liquor store.
